  3. It doesn’t suprise me at all that Metallica isn’t on there, and not because of the generally poor reviews of their latest albums. After the stuff that Metallica has tried to pull in the past (repealing first right sales and so forth), I can imagine they would ask for exorbitant royalties to any song offered.

That said… imagine trying to play “One”

    Comment by Tyler Rousseau — July 3, 2007 @ 1:02 pm | Reply

  4. dont imagine trying to play one try playing battery way better guitar in the song and if ur going to put acdc on here should check out riff raff

  5. this game is tight, i love all of the guitar hero games, i think that the hardest song of them all so far is “jordan” by buckethead on expert, its perty insane, and my buddy alex and i are gunna get rock band for the ps3 when it comes out this fall/winter, and the guitar controller for rock band is freqaking insane, google it, its crazy it has two sets of fingers keys, high and low
    PEACE

  12. What in the hell?? They want $50.00 for a game that should be $19.99.. and they didnt even put the REAL ARTISTS on there.. man screw activision.. i knew they would screw this up.. i guess its not enough buying up every single movie game licence, and then make a HORRIBLE game… now theyre really trying to drive fans away.. And by the way.. the hardest Guitar Hero song is Bark at the Moon.. by far. ^^;

    Comment by KnightEdrik — July 11, 2007 @ 9:33 am | Reply

  13. ^to clarify my above point.. i know not all GH songs are by the original artists.. but what the hell are the Vapors or Flock of Seagulls doing these days.. they should have been able to get them for less than 5 bucks in royalties.. i mean, they couldnt get Eddie Money to sign on…. rotflmao. Dude, theyre robbing us. $50.00 for cover band songs… wonderful. Oh yeah, for all those people who are saying to themselves “Well, maybe they just couldnt get them to sign on and do it..” Take 2/Rockstar didnt seem to have a problem getting over half these songs for Grand Theft Auto soundtracks. DK’s Police Truck was even in a Tony Hawk game.. and who did THPS?? Activision.. Think about it…

    Comment by KnightEdrik — July 11, 2007 @ 9:57 am | Reply

  14. Ummmm… it’s an 80s genre game, Flock of Seagulls were near mega-band status during that decade.

If you want to complain about “cover” bands performing the songs, that is an issue I can go with.

But keep in mind the original vision Harmonyx was going with when they created these GH; they wanted to creat near-real experiences for non-musicians, not a video game.

So turn the volume up, crunch some pseudo-chords, piss off the neighbors and have some fun!

  16. Well this looks pretty crappy
80′s metal or half of it 80′s posers
Iron Maiden why isnt it PROWLER instead
Why no MEGADETH or MOTORHEAD some great stuff from them in the 80′s

    Comment by Buck Diesel — July 11, 2007 @ 10:34 pm | Reply

  17. They need Crazy Train. Plain and simple. Journey would be sweet too, get some Wheel In The Sky. They should almost put a vote in on the songs and then add them based on popular vote. That would definetly help I think.

    Comment by dave — July 12, 2007 @ 2:52 am | Reply

  18. As previously mentioned its a 80′s genre “Game”, if you want the real thing go buy the “album”, sheet music, guitar and try to reincarnate Angus Young.

    Comment by Safetyman — July 12, 2007 @ 2:15 pm | Reply

  19. man, they completely neglected Maiden. It was bad enough when i found out maiden was only on the Xbox version of GHII. So now they only put 1 song and it isnt really one of their greater hits. You guys should really think about the songs you are putting into these games and maybe rely more on your fan base.
It should be a good gamethoguh already got it preordered.
    ps. Maiden rules

    pps.down with Metallica! greedy bastards

    Comment by beau — July 22, 2007 @ 4:24 am | Reply

  28. There are plenty of 80′s MAJOR artists not included…surprise, surprise….Michael Jackson, Madonna, Queen, U2…hello? Obviously, they would not come on the cheap…perhaps they’re in the new band game referenced which Sony can charge more for. Prince was huge…even Rick Springfield. Metal is plenty represented…Electric Eye is a strong addition. Enjoy Ghers

  29. Van Halen….also snubbed….

    Comment by GHRone — July 23, 2007 @ 2:18 am | Reply

  30. I wish you would all just stop complaining about the game. Yes it would be nice to have all master tracks for the songs, a cheaper price tag, and a couple different bands, but you’re not going to get them. This is what was created, so you either get it and have fun, or you don’t get it and miss out.

  35. Number one…. to all you guys who are like “oh yeah ACDC was so ripped!” ACDC doesnt sell there rights, nor do the beatles or someone else i cant remember. look it up on iTunes, no ACDC or beatles on iTunes.

Number two… the reason people like Van Halen, Foreigner (no one mentioned but there just to awesome to not mention ^^), Led Zeppelin, etc. were not put on here because they were mainly 70s, some 80s, but mainly 70s. but i dont get why U2s not on here, thats pretty stupid.

Number three… Metallica isnt on here because they suck. Plain and simple.

  38. As soon as I heard this game would only cover 80′s music I knew it wasn’t going to be very good. And to see what music they actually chose makes it even worse. There’s a few songs in particular I’m FURIOUS to see not in this game. I dunno, I guess maybe it was wishful thinking to think this series would get BETTER???

  45. Ok the hardest song Is Jordan. Bark at the Moon is one of the easier songs along with Free Bird. what i would like to see on the next one is GMBC by Children of Bodom that song fuckin rocks. and yea screw pink floyd they shouldnt go on gh at all

    Comment by GHgod(()) — August 28, 2007 @ 1:40 am | Reply

  46. Ok. I like it for the most part. yeah it is missing some good stuff, like Floyd, Led, but what about like Bon Jovi, or aerosmith. ya know there were some awsome ass bands in the 80′s. It could be better. And too all who say metallica sucks, they don’t suck and you know it. they have some of the best guitar riffs EVER, yeah they’re new shits week, and yes they are selfish asses, but it’s not about now, it’s about then. And then, they were GOLD!, ONE, UNFORGIVEN, FADE TO BLACK, MASTER OF PUPPETS, WELCOME HOME!!! yeah they needed that, but, maybe in the next one.

  47. This game is a joke… Isn’t not even that fun… I grew up in the 80′s and these are the shittest songs they could offer… I play Guitar Hero I and II because there more fun, and the songs are more enjoyable. this game is a blow out. I think most of the consumers can ageree with me when i say that this game is a waste of money. PS2 has there work cut out for them to create Guitar Hero III and totoaly redeme them selves. I just think that this game was rushed and was there for $$$ and not for fun… for the love of god, Guitar Hero are the bomb diggity of games, don’t ruin it with any more of this shit. We can let this game go and act like it never happend…, but shit give us the comsumers something that we can appreciate and make our time worth-wile. This game was a joke, and now I’m skeptical about purchasing the next edition of Guitar Hero because of it…. PLEASE GIVE US SOMETHING TO ENJOY!!!!

  54. Well, as far as I’m concerned, over half the songs on all of the first 3 Guitar Hero games are garbage. The Rock the 80′s list actually looks quite a bit better than the others to me. But I agree the cover songs are as lame as it gets, and seeing bands like the friggin GoGos, Vapors, Oingo Boingo, Flock of Birdcrap, Scandal, Romantics, and Billy Squier on this game is just NAUSEATING. Especially when there are no songs from great 80s GUITAR rockers like RUSH, Ozzie Osborne, April Wine, AC/DC, Satriani, Vinnie Moore, Triumph, Blue Oyster Cult, etc. on the game.
